Soyou want to join Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie.
Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie is your local volunteer marine safety organisation. In addition to our primary role of safety on the water, both on the lake and out at sea, Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie provides education including boat licence courses and Marine Radio (MROCP) courses.
We have two intakes per year, October and April, at which time you will be invited to an information session to brief you on our organisation and our expectations for membership. You will be required to undergo radio operator training and assist in fundraising, or fundraising only to be accepted for probationary membership. Crew training for our rescue vessels is available following achieving a radio operator rating.
Upon successful completion of your Police security check you will be accepted as a probationary member for a minimum of six months.
During this probationary period you will be required to prove your suitability by engaging in the following activities which you will be required to enter into your log book and have signed by the member supervising your activity.
- Practical safety induction
- Induction certification
- Marine Radio Certificate of Proficiency – in conjunction with AMC (Australian Maritime College)
- Participation in radio and fundraising activities
- Attend monthly unit meetings
On successful completion of your probationary period and with the approval of the Executive Officers you will be accepted into Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie as an ordinary member. Uniforms will not be issued until this time.
