“Saving lives on the water”
Are you planning a visit to Lake Macquarie over the Christmas Holiday period? If so there are some matters we need to discuss about your safety on the water both within the lake and off shore.
If you are joining us from North or South download a copy of our Visitor Guide which contains helpful information for first time visiting boaties to Lake Macquarie. We also encourage you to get a copy of the MRNSW Logon APP
Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie is available 24/7 for weather reports, radio checks, bridge bookings and assists. We provide a Log on/Log off service for your safety and our NSW Marine Rescue Network will track vessels Coastal Cruising. All our highly trained members are volunteers, whose time is spent manning the 24/7 radio base at Swansea Heads and our rescue vessels at Pelican.
In order to reduce congestion on VHF working channels, Marine Rescue NSW have allocated different working channels for adjacent radio bases. Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie’s radio base at Swansea Heads uses VHF Channel 19 as its main working channel. Some VHF sets can be switched between International and USA. Vessel owners need to ensure their radio is set to International, not USA, in order to satisfactorily converse with our radio base on Channel 19.
Get the emergency APP http://emergencyapp.triplezero.gov.au/ The APP uses GPS functionality built into smart phones to help Triple Zero (000) callers provide critical location details required to mobilise emergency services.
